Day of the dead illustration

I found this gorgeous illustration on tumblr the other day but there was no credit as to who it was drawn by. I really love it and would love to see more of the artists work if anyone knows who it is by?

When I'm settled into the flat I really want to get back on drawing again because seeing things like this inspire me so much.

Thanks to the lovely lady below and a Google image search (which I never knew even existed) you can view more of this persons beautiful illustrations here.

What I wore #5

I'm sorry for the lack of blog posts recently I've been very busy with work and sorting out things for the flat. This weekend we went furniture shopping, Jay's parents took us to this amazing second hand furniture shop which was full of gorgeous old pieces of wood furniture but at ridiculously cheap prices. Unfortunately we came back empty handed because although there was so much stuff we only went for quite specific things. Had we had a bigger flat to fill I think we would have come back with a lot of stuff. I'm mainly on the hunt for a chest of drawers and dressing table for the bedroom but any reasonable priced ones that I've seen on Ebay seem to be miles away which is a shame. We are very close to finishing the painting now, there is just a few more things to be done and we will be ready to move in. This is the outfit I wore to go shopping on Saturday.

Black Top- All Saints, Grey high waisted skirt- H&M, Tie dye leggings- Ebay, Black wedge boots- Ebay, Necklace- Sacré Coeur, Headband- Topshop.

Crystal Necklaces

I've seen these crystal necklaces floating around on the internet for a while and like lots of things, the more I see them the more they grow on me. I like the idea of wearing a few together as they are displayed below. When I first searched for them I couldn't find them anywhere as not many high street shops stock them with the acception of a few over priced ones on Urban Outfitters. I eventually ended up on Etsy and if you search for "bullet Crystal" pages and pages come up. It's too hard to pick which ones I like best! I think I might put them on my Christmas list. What is going on your Christmas list this year?

Blue Hair Nostalgia

Before I had pink hair I had blue hair and at the moment I keep seeing gorgeous Tumblr babes with beautiful blue hair and it is making me feel slightly nostalgic. I'm still trying to decide if to dye my hair turquoise although I've become unexpectedly attached to my dirty lilac hair. My Mum oddly enough keeps telling me that she likes my hair as it is which is unusual as she generally dislikes my alternative look. I'm also absolutely terrified of destroying my hair any further with bleach. Decisions, decisions!

Gloria Marigo

I stumbled across this girls Flicr account via a few different photos floating around on Tumblr and I think her photography is so beautiful. She shoots both digital and film and creates such an atmosphere of innocence and hidden darkness. What strikes me in particular is the beautiful colours and soft lighting. I would love to know how she edits her images this way. Her flickr account can be found here. She also sells her prints on an Etsy store here. I'd love to purchase a few for a montage for the flat but I think we are already overloaded with wall art. I took these images from the Italian Vogue website where her portfolio can also be found.

Moving Pictures

Last month I mentioned about a fashion film I was part of for Jade Gerrad. Here is the end result. I quite like both films, the top one is just me and the one below is a combination of a few models. I don't think she could have picked a more perfect song for the film with just me, I think it really works. It's a little strange seeing myself in a moving film. It makes me feel a bit self conscious, however I do think she's done a great job. I really appreciate her style and look forward to working with her again in the future.

Another few stills from the shoot.

November the 5th

After taking my camera to the shop and having it looked at they said to have other go with it to check that the fault with the last roll of film haven't been because I loaded the film incorrently.

So I took my camera out again last weekend on November the 5th to have another go. It's sort of a family tradition to go to my aunts beautiful large house for this as her big garden is the best place for a fire. Fireworks, bonfire, treacle toffee and an unlimited amount of beer made it a lovely night.

I think these pictures are fairly in conclusive because although most of them haven't come out, I was very drunk so it's hard to say whether the fault was the camera or mine. There are a few things that do suggest the camera might be broken, the last 6 or so pictures me and Jay took yesterday weren't there and some of them show two separate pictures across one frame.

Even though they came out very dark I quite like them this way. I'm probably going to have to waste another film to discover the truth. It's a shame though because this week's 'What I wore' pictures are no more.

Bedroom Inspirations

I have been keeping it to myself (while Jay goes around telling anyone who will listen), that this time next week I will be the proud owner of my own flat. It has been on the cards for a long time and after two buys fell through early on in the year I was getting doubtful that buying a flat was even the right decision. This little flat, that we were looking at buying last time came up again at a reduced price and we decided to take the leap and go for it. This was actually a few months ago now and even though we were told the exchange would happen quickly it has dragged on for weeks.

No matter how many pretty interior pictures came up on my Tumblr dash I have been pushing the whole thing out of my mind because I was frightened that it wouldn't happen again and I might jinx it. So now it's a week until we get the keys and I haven't really made a great deal of plans. We know that we are getting a burnt red chesterfield sofa kindly donated to us by the tattoo studio Jay works for, which I am incredibly excited about. We also have some dark furniture to go in the lounge so this is probably going to mean we have a dark colour scheme in the lounge and a light colour scheme in the bedroom. We are also just going to paint the whole place white to begin with as it is quite a small space.

Now my head is once again filled with colour, wardrobe solutions, dressing tables, funrniture suites, rugs and household accessories. My main worry is that there won't be enough space for my ever growing wardrobe and mountain of possessions. There is a large cupboard that we're going to be using as a closet but I really need to find a chest of drawers and a few other space saving solutions.

I've started gathering images for some ideas on how we can decorate the flat, we're on a tight budget but I think there is plenty of affordable ways to make a small space look beautiful. I've got a feeling that all my antique and vintage style furniture and accessories are probably going to close the space down more than modern, simple funrniture would but then again I love to break the rules. So here is some of my bedroom inspirations.

Also if anyone knows of some good interior blogs please link me as I'd love some more sources of inspiration.

New Buys

I went shopping the other day with my Mum and two sisters to the Trafford center. I came back with far more than I expected as I thought I was just going to be browsing. My sisters were trying on lots of clothes in H&M and I swear if you stay in that shop long enough you will find something you like. I must have been in there about an hour and a half.

High waisted grey flared skirt- this is an unusual buy for me but I actually love it and can't wait for an opportunity to wear it.

Black Lace cami- This was an absolute bargain so I just had to buy it, I'm planning on layering it with my Topshop harness bra.

Black Knitted sweater- I've needed a new jumper for a while now it is getting to winter and I just can't bring myself to pay Topshop prices. This one is basic but fits lovely and is so cosy.

Jem ring- This ring is big glittery and plastic, what more could a girl want?

Flower headband- I found this lurking in a corner and imagine my delight when at the till I discovered it was a £1 in the sale.
