VAU VAU

Last week was Vau Vau fashion show. I had a really lovely day with my girlfriends. Charlotte, Hannah and I started out getting our hair done for the show at hairdressers round the corner which was a nice start to the day as we kept out of the way of the hectic preparations at the church and enjoyed green tea and girly chats away from the bustle. As usual we ended up sneaking off to grab some lunch. As we were all staving by this point we under estimated the portion sizes and ended up ordering an awful lot more food than we could have done with eating. I had a vegetarian moussaka which was really tasty but so filling!

Back at the church we were dressed by the designers in outfits for each of their shows. I was really pleased with all of the outfits I was given. For Gwen Reid I worn a blue sequin cowl neck halter top with a black sequin pencil skirt, for Mad Elizabeth I worn a navy ditsy floral playsuit and for Eustratia a wore a semi transparent pink knee length skater skirt with a baby blue body suit finished with latex stockings and a semi transparent pink pussy bow this was actually my favourite outfit from the Eustratia show so I was very pleased to be wearing it. The girls in our group had our make up done by Jack Tyson in a strong pink with sliver glitter and got our nails done in a pastel french manicure style.

No sooner than the rehearsals were over than the public started streaming in. We sat on the steps drinking wine from plastic cups and watching people flood in and models dance around to the music. It quickly came to show time and the atmosphere back stage was crazy. Last year a part of the room had been cornered off to act as an extra space for the models to get changed. This year that seemed to have been scraped and we were cramped in a very small area to get changed. Rails lined the rooms and models scramble to each get to there outfits. As stressful as it felt it was it also added to the vibe and it was kind of hilarious in moments.

The Eustratia show was by far my favourite part and completely stole the show. The outfits were beautifully flattering and incredibly intricate. We appeared from inside the doll house front. I carried a birdcage with fairy lights inside and other models carried different props relating to the doll theme whilst a silence audience watched with intrigue. As always it's truly inspiring to be part of such a creative event.
